What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?
She is amazing. She has overcome obstacles of sexism that kept her out of the workplace especially academia in a field of law that is essential to human existence. She has an unflinching thirst for knowledge and profound intellectual curiosity that inspired the students around her especially young professional women. She has overcome obstacles and trauma in her life to engage successfully in lifelong learning by embracing subjects that did not exist when she was in school such as nanotechnology laws science policy and global health laws.
She is an exemplary role model not only for young professionalism but an example of persistence and staying power for older folks who fall prey to the myth that they are too old to learn anything new. This is her second rodeo...Ilise graduated law school decades ago before her children were born. Since then she wrote eight published books in two languages and over 400 published articles about women's rights science and law. Now she is back in law school studying rights to health in many legal systems, sitting on executive boards for publications and creating expert workshops designed to bring information about science and technology governance to millions of people everywhere. She has a staying power and drive that can invent policies to save the world.
Congratulations on your achievements, and all of our best wishes to you in the future, Ilise!
