Contemporary Club Report on Recent State Convention Trip

One club member earned awards for her handmade items at the New Jersey State Federation of Women's Club.

Hasbrouck Heights Contemporary Club members recently returned from the New Jersey State Federation of Women's Club convention in Atlantic City.

Club President Helen O’Shea, Vice-President Pat Link, club treasurer Marge Heeren and new member Anna Tracz, who was new to the convention, took part joining others from all over the state attending workshops on finance and fundraising, membership, education, special state project, domestic violence awareness and other topics, reported Link. 

Discussions were held and members exchanged ideas on how they can work in their communities for a better future.

Club member Eileen Gavin, who didn't attend the convention, was awarded several ribbons for her handmade items. Link reports that Gavin won a gold medal for the crocheted baby hat and sweater and a blue ribbon for her the children's scarf, and third place for the earrings she made. Gavin had also earned 4 gold ribbons inthe Palisades District competition.

At convention the club members heard Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno speak on the recovery efforts going on throughout NJ since super storm Sandy.
