Did Recent Crime Situations Make You Feel Unsafe?

Last week's police pursuit in town and Paramus cop shooting may cause some to question their safety

Thursday morning was certainly eventful. And for some a little scary as many residents in the areas of Lincoln, Columbus and Harrison opened their doors that morning to find police cars parked in driveways, K-9 dogs being led into driveways and  yards while officers asked people to stay in their homes.  There were also many parents concerned as they heard that their school (Euclid) was on lockdown and were not sure of what the situation was.

But police had it under control as they were inwho had fled the scene of an accident involving a stolen car and by around 10 a.m. they had him in custody.

It’s definitely alarming when things like this happen nearby let alone literally in our own backyard.

And this situation happened just days after just up the road on an onramp to the Garden State Parkway.

Even scarier.

At times like these we may find ourselves asking why these things happen – why here? Why at all?

Sadly there are areas of the state and in the country, and the world where crime is an everyday occurrence. And residents know that if anything like this happens in the area it's a rare occurrence. And for that residents can be thankful and should feel safe.

Police are here to protect the residents and they once again came through last Thursday. Police officials continue to remind residents to report suspicious activity.  As our local authorities  have said before they would much rather get calls reporting suspicious activity that turns out to be nothing at all than have incidents occur. So residents should remember the best way to feel safe is to call your local authorities if you see something that looks unusual and suspicous. It's doing your part to make sure your community does stay safe.
