Elks Lodge Sends Two HS Students to Peer Leadership Conference
Weekly column features news and updates from clubs and organizations in town

The recently sponsored two students from the high school junior class to attend the New Jersey State Elks PEER Leadership Conference.
Brianna Walsh and Jennie White (pictured) attended the conference which was held at the Ocean Place Resort in Long Branch, NJ. The theme of the conference was “Elks and Youth: All Access Path to Leadership” which focused on the prevention of alcohol, tobacco and drug abuse teaching youth how to make good choices, inspiring them to work together in their communities and step up and realize their true potential.
This conference included action planning strategies that participants will be able to bring back to their schools and peer groups. The conference included keynote addresses, interactive workshops and fun events.
The Junior Women’s Club will host its St. Patrick’s Day party/fundraiser on Saturday, March 5 from 7 to 11 p.m. at the post on Veterans Place. The cost of $40 per person will include an Irish dinner consisting of corned beef and cabbage/chicken, beer, wine and soda. Entertainment includes a DJ and Irish entertainment. Raffles, 50/50 and door prizes will be conducted. For tickets call Cara at 201-288-0479.
Proceeds from the event benefit the Junior Woman's Club charities and local scholarships.
The Knights of Columbus will host its Saint Patrick's Day dinner and fundraiser on Saturay, March 13 at the cafeteria.

Tickets costs $12 for adults, $6 for children 10 and under. Dinner includes corned beef, hot dogs, desserts, coffee and soda. There will also be drawings and a tricky tray. Proceeds from the event help support the many programs of the Knights of Columbus.
The Girls Scouts Troop #825 is hosting a blanket drive to benefit the Tomorrow’s Childrens Fund. The group has a collection box outside the and is taking new blankets any size and any color. The collection ends Feb. 25.
