Energy Efficiency Grants Save Borough $60K in Heating and Electrical System Upgrades

DPW facilities will get heating system upgrade through energy efficiency grant

The borough will save more than $60,000 towards heating system and electrical upgrades to municipal facilities thanks to energy efficiency grants.

Borough Administrator Mike Kronyak explained the project involves upgrading the heating system at the Department of Public Works facilities down at Plant Road. The project also includes the installation of some motion light detectors in the municipal building. Most of the municipal building is already equipped with energy efficient lighting and windows, he said.

The total cost of the project is $66,930, of which 60 percent of is being funded by the New Jersey Office of Clean Energy Direct Install Program.

Another $20,000 is being paid for by Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Rebate Program,  Kronyak said. The entire project is only costing the borough roughly $6,000.
