The first annual 5K Run/Walk and Health Fair is just a little more than a three weeks away and registration is in full swing.
The Hasbrouck Heights Board of Health and the Junior Womens Club are sponsoring the event together. Proceeds will fund scholarships for graduating high school seniors which will be given by the Junior Womens Club. The event will also benefit the Seeing Eye Dog, a charity the club is supporting this year.
The run/walk is set for Sunday, April 28 and will take place in the center of town beginning at Central and Borough Hall. The route includes parts of Oak Grove, Henry, Terrace and Lawrence avenue concluding at Borough Hall. (View the map)

Participants can enter ahead of time by filling out the form (see PDF) or registering the day of the event.
Fee for pre-registration is $20, $25 the day of the event and $15 for children under 18. Participants will receive a T-shirt and post-race refreshments will be provided.

There will be medals awarded for the top three male and female runners in categories of: 18 and under, 19-29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49 and 50 and over.
The whole event takes place in the morning hours starting at 8 a.m. for check-in. The 5K race/walk and the health fair begins at 9 a.m. Awards will be given out at 10:15 a.m.
Every spring the Board of Health holds its annual health fair which it will do this year as part of the 5K run/walk. The health fair will be held in the Senior Center which is located at Borough Hall from 9 a.m. to noon.
As always an array of vendors will be on hand offering information on excercise, nutrition, urology, disablity awareness, podiatry, blood pressure screening among other health topics.
