Four Will Face Off in Heights Council Election
Two Democrats challenge Republican incumbents this November.

The two Hasbrouck Heights Republican council persons up for re-election this year will face a challenge from two Democrats who will be vying for their seats this November.
Two-term Republican council persons Sonya Buckman and David Gonzalez seek a third term this November.
Carol Skiba, a former councilwoman, is joined by Matthew Maginley, a business owner in town, on the Democratic ticket.

There was no contest in the Tuesday primary election for the respective party nominations.
Attendance at the polls was light according to preliminary vote totals. Out of 7,462 registered voters in Hasbrouck Heights 155 Democrat voters and 320 Republicans came to the polls.

Tuesday at 4 p.m. was the filing deadline for Independent candidates and no candidates came forward with petitions to run, according to the Borough Clerk's office.
Hasbrouck Heights governing body had been all Republican until last November when Democrat Christian Semenecz, the sole challenger in that election, edged out Republican Councilman John Dingertopadre. The council has a 5-1 Republican majority.
