Heights Girl Scouts Help Feed Local Residents

Members of Girl Scout Troop 4016 spent time at the Hasbrouck Heights food pantry Thursday restocking shelves with donated items.

More than a dozen members of the Girl Scout Troop 4016 of Corpus Christi spent the afternoon Thursday working to help the borough keep food and other household supplies ready and available to those in town who really need it.

Troop Leader Maria Pinto escorted the girls to Borough Hall where they took part in helping to restock the shelves of the Hasbrouck Heights food pantry. Each child brought in her own items to donate like canned goods, shampoos, paper towel and other household items.

The Girl Scouts then helped out by placing all the donated items on the shelves in the pantry. They also helped stock items that had been donated by other members of the community.

Pinto said this project is among the many they are doing this season. The Girl Scouts recently completed Operation Christmas Child and will now be collecting toys which they will donate to the children of Moonachie who were affected by Superstorm Sandy flooding.

Every Monday morning dozens in need visit the food pantry. Donated items such as canned goods, gift cards, toiletries and household items can be dropped off at the Borough Clerk's office during regular business hours. Call 201-288-0195.
