Journey to the Center of the World in Hasbrouck Heights This August
Public library plans its annual summer family fun night.

This summer the library's annual bash will take families on a journey to the center of the world.
Mimi Hui, director of the Hasbrouck Heights Public Library, says a great line-up of activities are planned for this year's family event all set for Friday, Aug. 2 from 6:30 p.m. til 1 a.m.
Each year the library and its volunteers work to transform the library from ceiling to floor into a magical world of fun where children and their parents can enjoy a night out right in their own neighborhood.
This year's "Journey to the Center of the World" theme will bring special guest appearances from costume-characters, movie screenings, karaoke singing, says Hui.
Among the many highlights will be a special concert performance by award-winning children's recording artist Yosi and puppeteer/actor Johnny Beirne of the Eugene Show.
Hui says throughout the evening there will be various activities for the entire family such as a dingo dig exploration, make your own fossils, discover the world of cave animals, go on a scavenger hunt and learn from the Boy Scouts how to survive the wilderness of Middle Earth.
The library crew will be serving up fun themed snacks like fossil cookies (sugar cookies) and dirt cups (smashed Oreo cookies in chocolate pudding with gummy worms), Pterodactyl wings (chicken wings) and then some.
Hui says its the support of the Friends of the Library which helps fund the event each year that allows the library to put on this program for Heights families.
"Getting away is a challenge many families face these days. Here is an inexpensive way to entertain the whole family this summer," says Hui.
To help defray costs a donation of $5 for children under 12 years old and $8 donation for anyone 12 and older is suggested. Refreshments are included.
Registration is ongoing and must be done in person at the library which is located at 320 Boulevard. Call 201-288-0488 for more information.
