More Than 50 Percent of Heights Voters Head to the Polls

By 6:30 pm nearly 5,000 people had already been to the polls out of the 7,558 registered voters in the borough.

Polls just closed at 8 p.m. and preliminary reports show a large turnout for this year's election in Hasbrouck Heights.

By 6:30 p.m. 4,858 voters had been to the polls, which is more than half the 7,558 registered voters in town. A steady stream of people were seen coming in and out of the polls all day keeping poll workers busy. Although it was busy all day most say they didn't have to wait in lines and were able to get in and out.

The Presidential election was said to be what drew most to the polls this year in addition to the municipal council race in which Republican incumbents John Dingertopadre and Russell Lipair face one Democrat challenger Christian Semenecz.  There is also a first-ever November Board of Education election which is uncontested.
