State Grants Heights $145K More Towards Boulevard Project

Funding will go towards another phase of the borough's downtown shopping area revitalization project.

Hasbrouck Heights has been granted another $145,000 from the state towards its ongoing Boulevard revitalization project, the Department of Transportation announced Wednesday.

This latest funding will enable the borough to continue on with the revitalization of the Boulevard, a project which has been ongoing one block at a time funded predominantly through these state grants. With the addition of this latest grant the borough has received a total of six for this project.

To date the borough has completed four legs of the project - installing new sidewalks, lights and pavers to the Boulevard from Washington street up to Hamilton. Construction was just recently completed to the section between Franklin and Hamilton.

The next two sections the borough plans to revitalize next is Hamilton to Walter with DOT grant money it received last year and this latest funding would go towards Walter up to Division. The goal is to keep fixing up the Boulevard one block at time provided the borough can continue to receive grants for the work, officials have said.

At this time there has not been a timeframe given for when work to the next phases of the project would begin.
