A Proposal With the Help of Hoboken's Finest Mutz

A Hoboken love story.

Hoboken couple Rachel Singer, 28, and Scott Davidovic, 28, have been together for more than ten years.

It's kind of like that scene in the Sex and the City movie, when Carrie finally gets engaged to "Mr. Big" after being together for ten years, Singer joked recently, still happy and smiling about her recent engagement.

Two weeks ago, Davidovic, a real estate broker in town, popped the question. "It was long overdue," he said.

Davidovic had decorated the couple's apartment with yellow daisies. "I started crying when I walked in," Singer said. And then and there, down on one knee, next to his pitbull, Mac, Davidovic asked Singer to be with him forever. Also waiting for her was a platter of bread and cheese from Fiore's, Singer's favorite food.

After the proposal, the couple went over to Oddfellow's—one of their favorite bars in town—for a surprise party with friends and family. ("We owned that place last night!" Davidovic said the day after the party.)

Singer, who has lived in town for five years, and Davidovic, who has lived in town for four years, said they enjoy Hoboken mostly for its restaurants and good food. Davidovic added that he also hangs out at the skate park by the waterfront a lot (Singer lovingly mocked him for this, calling him "my 13-year-old boyfriend.").

Davidovic and Singer aren't sure yet of where they'll get married but will probably get their marriage license in Hoboken City Hall.

"We love it here," said Rachel, who said she has lived "all over town."

Davidovic concurred. "And," he added, "Hoboken has the best pizza."
