Board of Ed To Introduce Superintendent Candidate To Public
After months of searching, the board is down to the last candidate.

Almost five months after the Requests for Proposal went out to find consultants to help with Hoboken's search for a new superintendent of schools, the hunt may have come to a close.
During its monthly meeting on Tuesday night, the board announced that there's one left.
Although Board members could not reveal much information because of ongoing contract negotiations with the candidate, Board member Theresa Minutillo announced that the new candidate will be introduced to the public on Nov. 23.

The Board has not revealed his identity, because he has not told his current district yet that he's leaving, said Board President Rose Marie Markle.
Last Monday, Board members Irene Sobolov, Ruth McAllister, Carmelo Garcia, Jean Marie Mitchell and Maureen Sullivan went down to the candidate's district to talk to some of his colleagues and tour the facilities. McAllister and Sobolov said after Tuesday night's board meeting that they spoke to many employees who said they were sad to see him go.

After the meeting the board went into closed session to discuss the matter further. They wouldn't reveal how much money the new superintendent would be paid.
The salary won't be made public before the contract is officially offered to the candidate, said the Board's lawyer Vito Gagliardi. The offer needs to be approved by the Hudson County Superintendent before it can be approved by the Board, Gagliardi said also.
Three candidates were interviewed by the Board during a on October 19. After that meeting, the board extended a job offer to one of the candidates, who then turned it down and accepted a job somewhere else, according to the source. Afterward there were two candidates left, which now has been reduced to only one finalist.
