Candidates File Petitions for May Elections

Election Season can begin.

Let the games begin.

On Monday afternoon, 16 people filed petitions to run for Hoboken City Council in May. At 4:02 p.m. exaclty, City Clerk Jimmy Farina closed the door and announced that no more petitions would be accepted.

In the First Ward, incumbent Theresa Castellano will be challenged by Eric Kurta, who sits on the Hospital Authority Board and is a member of People for Open Government.

In the Second Ward, four candidates filed petitions. Incumbent Beth Mason, who is running for a second term will be challenged by Tom Greany, Franz Peatzold and Patricia Waiters.

In the Third Ward, incumbent Michael Russo will be challenged by political newcomer .

will run again. This time he'll be fighting for the seat against Rami Pinchevsky.

The Fifth Ward is another crowded race. Incumbent Peter Cunningham will be challenged by former Housing Authority Commissioner and meeting frequenter Perry Belfiore. and Party with Purpose founder also filed petitions on Monday.

Lastly, in the Sixth Ward, incumbent Nino Giacchi will run against mother-of-three Jennifer Giattino.

Elections are on May 10.
