Cocaine And 3 Pounds Weed Seized In Hudson County Drug Probe; 2 Arrested

Two Bayonne residents in their 20s were arrested for drug distribution, child endangerment, and money laundering, prosecutors said.

HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — Two people were arrested and more than 3 lbs. of narcotics were seized after an investigation into drug distribution in Hudson County, prosecutors said.

Giovanny Alfaro, 29, and Jamie Juarez-Castillo, 23, both of Bayonne, were arrested without incident on Avenue C in Bayonne on Tuesday, said the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office on Thursday.

An investigation by the Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Task Force and the Bayonne Police Department discovered more than 180 grams of suspected cocaine, more than three pounds of suspected marijuana, "multiple quantities" of Alprazolam and Oxycodone pills, and more than $3,000 in suspected proceeds from narcotics transactions, prosecutors said.

"During the course of the investigation, numerous transactions were conducted with an undercover officer which included the sale of illegal narcotics and an illegal firearm," prosecutors said.

Alfaro is charged with first-degree possession with the intent to distribute (cocaine), a crime of the first degree; four counts of possession with the intent to distribute (cocaine), multiple charges related to marijuana, oxycodone, and Alprazolam, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, weapons charges, and money laundering.

Juarez-Castillo is charged with two counts of second-degree conspiracy to distribute (cocaine), various other drug charges, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, and money laundering.
