Former Park Pastries Site In Hoboken Is Finally Getting A New Café
Decades ago, Hoboken's hipsters broke bread on this prominent corner. Now it will get new life as the Mile Square Café.

HOBOKEN, NJ — Through the 1990s, Hoboken's hipsters and young families flocked to Park Pastries in the center of town, a place to chat and enjoy their famous fruit stollen. After the eatery shut down more than 20 years ago, the site remained empty.
But the corner of Park Avenue and Eighth Street will soon get new life as The Mile Square Café.
Chef Stephen El Hassan of OBagel announced in a YouTube video last week, "We just signed the lease for Mile Square Café—our next big venture in Hoboken. This is Day 1 of building something special."

"My father opened OBagel when I was five years old," adds "Chef Steve El," noting that he became "infatuated" with the bagel business by watching his father work.
In the video, the owners say they saw the space and began dreaming of a bunch cafe in "the best place in the world."

They said they want to do "the simple things in the best ways" without being pretentious.
