Four Men Charged in Assault at Hoboken Apartment

The incident left one Hobokenite injured, police said.

A 29-year-old Hoboken man was assaulted in an altercation around 4 a.m. at Fifth and Jefferson Streets on Sunday, police said.

Hoboken police arrested Helio Resto, 28, from North Bergen; Jason Arteaga-Loayza, 22, and Christopher Torruelas, 20, and Miguel Zayas, 26, all from Jersey City. 

The victim sustained injuries in his face and was treated by members of the Hoboken Volunteer Ambulance Corps, police said.

Hoboken officers were patrolling the area around 4 a.m. when a woman caught their attention.

"Chase those cars," she told police according to the report, "they hit my boyfriend."

After stopping one car — with the four men in it — the woman identified two of the alleged assaulters.

The group spent some time earlier in the evening at the victim's apartment, when a fight turned physical, police said. The fight moved into the bedroom and a mirror was broken before the group left.

The victim also left the apartment and the assault continued in the street, police said.

Torruelas and Resto were charged with aggravated assault, police said. Zayas was arrested for outstanding warrants and Arteaga-Loayza was arrested for aggravated assault as well as hindering evidence.
