Giants Super Bowl Champ Arrested After Robbery Spree: Police

The former Giants running back and Super Bowl champ is accused of robbing gas stations and other businesses around Los Angeles.

LOS ANGELES — A former Giants running back and Super Bowl champion was arrested Tuesday for allegedly robbing businesses around Los Angeles, media outlets reported.

Derrick Ward, 43, was arrested Monday by the LAPD North Hollywood Division and accused of robbing at least five businesses, including gas stations, said reports.

Reports said that he isn't suspected of using a gun, but used force and intimidation.

Ward grew up in California and played for several NFL teams. He was drafted in the seventh round by the New York Jets in 2004, but cut before the regular season.

He then played for eight seasons for the Giants, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Houston Texans.

Ward was part of the offense that helped the Giants win Super Bowl XLII against the New England Patriots in 2008.
