Hoboken Baby Parade Set for Sunday
Hobokens 12th Annual Baby Parade starts at 1 p.m. at Sinatra Park

Hoboken's annual Baby Parade returns to the waterfront walkway this Sunday.
Now in its 12th year, the spring tradition encourages parents to costume their young kiddos — babies, toddlers and older siblings — in their finest attire for a festive stroll down the waterfront.
“The parade is full of surprises,” organizer Lauren Watry said in a statement. “The creativity that local families put into their costumes and stroller decorations is what makes this event so special.”

The parade, which serves as a major fundraiser for the Hoboken Historical Museum, actually originated in the early 20th century as a way for public health officials to identify newly-arrived young families and encourage them to utilize basic health services, museum communications director Melissa Abernathy said.
Trophies are awarded to the parade's "Best Dressed Child," "Most Creative Carriage," and "Best Dressed Family," with past winners including Charlie Chaplin, Minnie Mouse and Rocket Man.
