Hoboken Rock Trio to Perform in Israel

The Jerusalem Post announced a concert by 'one of the most consistent bands in the history of alternative rock.'

Hoboken's very own alternative rock band Yo La Tengo will perform in Tel Aviv, the Jerusalem Post has reported. The concert has not yet been listed on the band's Web site.

The concert will take place on March 22, at Tel Aviv's Barby club. The band will only play one show, the paper reported.

Yo La Tengo was formed in 1984 in Hoboken, and is made up of Ira Kaplan (on guitar, vocals), his wife Georgia Hubley (drums, vocals) and James McNew (bass, vocals).

"Though they have never been afraid to use noise and distortion to get their point across," the paper reported, "most of their songs are a mix of catchy tunes, mellow beats and lyrics that are both uplifting and easy to relate to."

In case you would like to see Yo La Tengo perform a little closer to home, the band will be part of the line up of four benefit concerts that are being held for Haiti, in New York City on Jan. 20, 21, 24 and 25. Tickets are $75 for the concert, at the City Winery on 155 Varick St.
