Hoboken Shelter’s 'Back To The 80s' Dance Party Returns

The Hoboken Shelter will host its Back To The 80s Dance Party live and in-person at the spacious Hoboken Elks Lodge on May 6. The Shelter pressed pause on this Spring staple event for the past three years due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Coming back with a blast, the dance party is a wonderful opportunity to break out the big hair and fingerless gloves, and Moonwalk into one of the most rad eras to a playlist of 80s musical icons. Guests will also enjoy a costume contest and fun prizes, wine, beer, and light dinner fare.

Shelter Executive Director Jaclyn Cherubini is enthusiastic about the return of the dance party and says, “I’m looking forward to seeing everyone on the dance floor for a fun way to support ending hunger and homelessness in our community.”

Though the dance party went on hiatus, the Hoboken Shelter itself remained open and fully available to the most vulnerable in the Hoboken community every day of the pandemic. The Shelter provided meals, showers, and a full range of supportive services including skills training and resume building workshops. During the years of the pandemic, the Shelter transitioned more than 200 people from the streets to the Shelter and into homes and independent lives of their own. Currently, the Shelter continues transforming lives by serving 500 meals daily, safely housing 50 people nightly, and hosting 1000 showers weekly. On March 3, the Hoboken Shelter served its 3 millionth meal. Proceeds from the Back To The 80s Dance Party will allow the Shelter to carry on the mission it has had since opening its doors in 1982: ending homelessness and hunger one person at a time.

Tickets for the Back To The 80s Dance Party are available for purchase online from now through April 30 at $60 per person and will be available online from May 1- May 6 and at the event itself at $80 per person. Tickets are also a perk of sponsorship at all levels, including 60 tickets for those at the top sponsorship level. Sponsors can enjoy their very own dance party within a dance party.
