Hoboken to Receive $16 Million From NJDOT

State Senator Brian Stack and Assemblyman Ruben Ramos announced on Thursday afternoon.

Hoboken will receive $16 million in capital funding from the New Jersey Department of Transportatoin in funding from the Transportation Capital Program, announced Assemblyman Ruben Ramos on Thursday afternoon.

The $16 million in funding is part of a $3.5 billion proposed capitol plan by the Department for the entire state of New Jersey for the year 2012. The funding will be used to rehabilitate current infrastructure and provide for operational and safety improvements of current roads, according to the announcement.

Three places in the area have been selected for the funding, and according to a press release the funding will be divided as follows:

  • Hoboken Observer Highway Operational and Safety Improvements: $1.8 million
  • Newark and First Street Improvements, Hoboken: $215,977
  • Route 139, Contract 3 (Hoboken and Conrail Viaducts): $14 million

"This is great news for the City of Hoboken," Ramos said. "I’m pleased to see that this much needed funding to repair our transportation infrastructure is being made a priority."
