Hoboken's Representative In Hudson County Weighs In On Paved-Over Drains

"I assure you that all residents' concerns are taken seriously," the Hudson County commissioner said.

HOBOKEN, NJ — After Hoboken and Hudson County officials engaged in a war of words last week about errors in a county street paving project, County Commissioner Anthony Romano has weighed in.

Romano is one of the county's part-time paid commissioners, formerly known as freeholders. (He also serves as a part-time paid public safety consultant in Hoboken.)

Romano sent a message Tuesday saying, "Hudson County has recently undertaken a pavement project on Park Avenue in Hoboken, which runs from Observer Highway to 15th Street. If anyone has any issues with this project, please feel free to contact me, either by email at aromano@hcnj.us or by phone at 201-390-2162."

He added, "The Hudson County Executive’s Office, the County’s Division of Roads and Bridges, and the project’s contractors are on the ground everyday rectifying any issues that may have occurred during the initial paving. As Hoboken’s representative on the Hudson County Board of County Commissioners, I assure you that all residents’ concerns are taken seriously by both me and county staff and everyone has worked and will continue to work diligently to resolve any problems."

When asked about the progress of the project, a county spokesperson said on Tuesday, "County contractors are still working and are currently up by the Park Avenue Bridge cutting joints. This project should be done next week, weather permitting, and this timeline includes the repairs. The roads should not have to be closed for anything related to this project."

There are several other road and anti-flooding projects taking place around Hoboken right now. For more on that, head here.
