NJ Residents Can Use New Weehawken Pool Complex For Free Before Summer Ends (PHOTOS)

All NJ residents can try the Weehawken pool in mornings because it was built with Green Acres funding. Use the link and directions here.

HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — Weehawken's new, sprawling pool complex — including a slide, lap pool, baby pool, and spray park — is open to all New Jersey residents from 9:30-12 each day.

It's a scenic 2.4-mile walk along the Hudson River waterfront from Hoboken.

But you have to be quick to reserve a slot: They're all taken for this coming weekend, and each day, the slots open for seven days later.

The park was opened to other New Jersey residents the first week in August because it was built with state "Green Acres" funding. Pressure from other towns resulted in Weehawken officials' opening the facility to others for part of the day, but people must register.

The pool is ADA-compliant and has multiple lifeguards watching.

Getting There

  • Driving: The pool, not far from the Lincoln Tunnel, has a parking lot with limited parking, so get there early. (See official address below.)
  • Walking: It's a scenic walk along the Hudson River Waterfront Walkway, and there's a fun playground/exercise area just south of the complex, too. State law requires public access to the land along the Hudson River from Bayonne to the George Washington Bridge, so you can walk 2.4 miles from Hoboken, if desired.
  • Light rail: The light rail is nearby, a $2.25 ride from Hoboken, North Bergen, or downtown Jersey City.
  • Bike: There is bike parking.
  • Uber: A recent Uber ride from Hoboken cost less than $10.

The address is: Weehawken Waterfront Park and Recreation Center, 1 Port Imperial Blvd, Weehawken, NJ 07086.
