Jersey City Man Arrested for Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer
The incident took place in front of a Downtown Hoboken establishment.

Hoboken police arrested a 25-year-old Jersey City Man over the weekend, for allegedly assaulting two police officers and resisting arrest, police said.
Shaquan Smith was sitting at the outdoor tables in front of Windmill Hot Dogs on Saturday afternoon, according to police. He had been at the establishment for multiple hours, without ordering anything, according to police.
After sitting there for a while, Smith allegedly began to harass passersby, police said.

When the store's owner asked Smith to leave, police said, he refused.
Police arrived at the scene on downtown Hudson Street and tried to handcuff Smith, according to reports. A physical struggle between Smith and a police officer ensued, after Smith allegedly pushed the officer away and tried to leave the area, according to reports.

An off-duty federal agent happened to walk by and assisted the Hoboken police officers when he noticed the struggle, according to reports. One of the police officers used pepperspray on Smith and arrested him.
Smith was charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, resisting arrest and obstructing the administration of law, according to police reports.
