Jewelry Store Robbed of $1,000 and a diamond

An armed robbery took place at W. Kodak Jewelers on Tuesday afternoon.

Around 1:15 on Tuesday afternoon, Kodak Jewelers on Newark Street was robbed of $1,000 in cash and a diamond valued at $2,000, according to police.

According to police reports, a male and a female walked into the store, asking to look at diamond rings. The unknown male—estimated to be in his forties, police said—then took out a black hand gun and asked the store's employee to be taken to the safe, according to the police report.

Once in the safe, police said, the man took out a cash box as well as a diamond ring. According to the police, the man was wearing a red hooded sweatshirt, a black jacket and jeans. The woman who accompanied him, according to the report, looked to be about 25-years-old with black hair and wearing a black jacket.

There were no customers in the store at the time of the robbery, police said.

The case is still under investigation and no arrests have been made, police said.
