Supermarket In North Jersey Nixes Its Salad Bar
The salad bar at Kings Fresh supermarket has closed, store employees said.

HOBOKEN, NJ — So long, salad bar.
The salad bar at the Kings Supermarket in uptown Hoboken, which has been there since the store opened in 2012, is no more.
On several days this week, workers were seen replacing it with produce and items in packages (see photo).

Workers in the store confirmed that it was closed.
A Mid-Atlantic spokeswoman for Albertsons stores, which owns Kings, did not respond to several inquiries about the reason for the change, or whether other Kings stores in New Jersey have followed suit.

However, open salad bars have been on the decline since the pandemic, according to reports.
During the pandemic, Kings took extra steps to ensure that its items and surfaces were thoroughly cleaned, a spokeswoman told Patch at the time.
Kings has 16 markets in New Jersey.
