Each week, a social worker comes in to help people connect with services. The library also recently installed a counter with free toiletries and other items for those in need.

Tenant Landlord Rights

People are often told their rents are rising, or they must leave their apartment, without knowing that the state and local governments offer certain protections and rights.

The library writes, "Join us in the Small Programming Room (500 Park Ave) on Monday, March 27 at 6 p.m. for a free legal seminar presented by Northeast New Jersey Legal Services."

An attorney will present about landlord and tenant rights and answer questions.

NNJLS lawyers provide no-cost legal services for eligible residents of Hudson County.

What Will The City's Social Workers Do?

Hoboken Council President Emily Jabbour, herself a social worker, is leading another event, a Social Work Panel Discussion at the Library on Thursday, March 30, at 6:30 p.m.

Panelists include the city's two new social workers who have been hired to work with the homeless population, Bianca Hoffer and Lori Hetzel, and the library's community service worker, Emily Dalton.

The library said, "They and other panelists will speak about the importance of social work in our community, what social work actually is, and how you can help support their initiatives."
