Madison Library Introduces New Programming Initiatives

New initiatives include Sunday Afternoon programs. The next event features actor Marvin Jefferson on October 28.

The Madison Public Library is adding some new programming initiatives in an effort to discern how best to serve its patrons with programs that are entertaining, provocative, interactive, creative and appealing. According to library director Nancy Adamczyk, “We are experimenting with some new programming ideas in response to requests from Madison area residents during our strategic planning process.”

The fall programming season features a new series of Sunday afternoon programs, occurring once a month. Upcoming is a performance by actor Marvin Jefferson, “Paul Robeson: A Chautauqua” on October 28, a local author fair in November and a holiday concert in December. The library will continue to offer an assortment of weekday presentations, lectures and films. The programs will include a mix of daytime and evening offerings.

There will be a new, occasional series for adults entitled, “ACE: Adult Creative Expression.” These hands-on workshops may include fine art, crafts, DIY projects, upcycling, cooking, writing and more. This series will commence with workshops in making hand-crafted books and “plein air” painting/drawing. Registration is required.

One-on-one technology assistance continues to be available on “Tech Tuesdays,” and the library will also offer occasional “Tech Topics” presentations. An overview of Pinterest and a guide to some of Google’s lesser-known are the first topics in this new series.

Check the library’s website, www.madisonnjlibrary.org, for film titles and for dates and times for all events. Call 973-377-0722 for more information and to register for ACE programs. All programs are free and open to the public.
