Municipal Garage to Be Renamed For Moret

Longtime city employee Freddie Moret, 54, died on May 24 due to complications from asthma while on vacation with his wife.

Hoboken will rename its municipal garage in honor of lifelong city resident and model employee Freddie Moret, who died unexpectedly of complications from asthma last month while vacationing in Italy.

Mayor Dawn Zimmer made the announcement after presenting Moret's family with a proclamation at last week's council meeting.

“He was a person who was willing to do everything and anything for Hoboken and he had such a knowledge of our city," said Zimmer, who recalled Moret's tireless efforts on behalf of trapped residents during Hurricane Sandy last year. "It’s a loss for Hoboken."
