New Playground With Inclusive Equipment And Benches Opens In Hoboken: See Photos

HOBOKEN, NJ — It's a place to play, swing, and sit.

The new playground in the southwest corner of Hoboken's Church Square Park — across from a church, hence the name — is now open.

The playground is only part of Phase 1 of the Church Square Park Improvements Project. More projects will be finished in fall.

The new playground features inclusive and educational play elements, the city said, including curved seating and all-user swings.

The playground is designed for kids five years old and younger.

The playground, on Fourth Street between Park Avenue and Willow Avenue, features ramped play structures, play mounds, magnet play elements, all-user swings, curved benches, and modern safety surfacing.

The project was made possible in part through funding from the Hudson County Open Space Trust Fund, following years of planning and community engagement to update the park.

“Seeing our youngest kids already enjoying the new playground at Church Square Park is a reminder of why we invest in public spaces that help bring our community together,” said Mayor Bhalla. “I extend my gratitude to our county partners for their support, and to the residents whose input helped design these much-needed upgrades."

More Upgrades To Come

By the end of fall, the improvements will include a new lawn area, a landscape buffer along the dog run to help reduce noise, and new public restrooms.
