Superstorm Sandy Recovery Grants Still Available for Residents, Businesses

Homeowners have until the end of the month and business owners have until the end of October to apply for Superstorm Sandy recovery grants.

The window for residents and business owners who sustained property damage in Superstorm Sandy and still want to apply for recovery grant money is closing.

Homeowners are urged to apply for either the Homeowner Resettlement Program or the Homeowner Reconstruction, Rehabilitation, Elevation and Mitigation Program by June 30 at 8 p.m., the end of the initial application period, while business owners have until Oct. 31 to apply for the Stronger NJ Business Grant Program.

To be eligible, Hoboken homeowners must have sustained at least $8,000 in damages or more than one foot of flooding on the first floor of their residence during Sandy, and must agree to stay within Hudson County for three years following award of the grant.

For homeowners who plan to repair, elevate or rebuild their primary residence, the RREM program can provide up to $150,000. To be eligible, homeowners must have a household adjusted gross annual income of less than $250,000.
