'The Jersey Sting' Authors Promote Book at Malibu Diner

Ted Sherman and Josh Margolin, authors and reporters, signed copies of their new book on Wednesday afternoon.

Once again, was at the center of operation Bid Rig on Wednesday afternoon. But this time, rather than and FBI Operative Solomon Dwek, authors Josh Margolin and Ted Sherman took place at the table in the left corner of the diner, right under the surveillance camera.

In the same exact spot where Cammarano agreed to take a $25,000 bribe, the authors spoke to local press about their experiences reporting their newly released book The Jersey Sting.

Sherman and Margolin also held a signing in the Malibu's parking lot on Wednesday afternoon, promoting and selling the book. The book outlines the story of Dwek, and how things went down in Operation Bid Rig, the biggest sting operation in the state’s history.

Cammarano, , is currently for bribery and extortion.

Besides Cammarano and Schaffer, Third Ward Councilman Michael Russo was also mentioned in the book. The Jersey Sting , before breaking off contact with Dwek.

Russo responded by saying that no bribe was offered during that meeting at the Malibu. The authors said they reviewed the tapes in question again and stand by what they wrote in the book. They did not elaborate on the tapes they have and about what else was said during that meeting.

Margolin and Sherman said they’re contemplating releasing the tapes on which some of the information in the book is based.

Sherman still works for the Star Ledger, while Margolin currently works for the New York Post. The authors said they donated two copies of the book to the .

The book seems to be a hit, with the authors touring the state and talking to several media outlets, including National Public Radio and local television stations.

After writing and researching the book “in silence,” and in their own private home-offices over the course of many months—both were full-time reporters while they worked on The Jersey Sting—the authors said they’re happy that the book is done. 

“It’s tremendous,” Margolin said.

Mayor Dawn Zimmer arrived at the diner on her bike after 4 p.m., as did her husband Stan Grossbard. The authors signed her copy. 

The Jersey Sting, $26.99, St. Martin's Press. The authors will be at Barnes and Noble on the Upper West Side in Manhattan on Thursday and at the Jersey City Public Library on Tuesday, April 5.
