Victim In Fatal Weehawken Shooting Identified
The Hudson County Prosecutor's office has identified a victim and arrested a suspect in a fatal shooting in Weehawken Thursday.

WEEHAWKEN, NJ — The victim of a shooting on Park Avenue in Weehawken Thursday night has been identified as a 24-year-old man, prosecutors said.
Jhonnier Gamboa Acosta, 24, was brought to Jersey City Medical Center Thursday with an apparent gunshot wound, and pronounced dead, said the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office.
Police has arrested Juan Perez, 67, and charged him with murder and two weapons charges, they said. He is being held at Hudson County Correctional facility pending his first court appearance.

Prosecutors said that shots rang out in the normally quiet waterfront town around 7 p.m. Thursday.
The Weehawken Police Department was notified of shots fired in the area of Park Avenue between 37th Street and 41st Street. The area is near a shopping center and across the street from Union City.

Police found Acosta. He was pronounced dead at the hospital at 8:14 p.m.
During the preliminary investigation, members of the Union City and Weehawken Police
Departments apprehended Perez.
Prosecutor Esther Suarez credited the Homicide Unit, the Weehawken Police Department, and the Union City Police Department with the investigation and arrest.
The Prosecutor's Office did not release a motive or further information Friday.
