HOBOKEN, NJ — Various road and infrastructure projects have tied up traffic in Hoboken and affected parking this summer. So what should you expect this week?
According to Hoboken's construction website, there will be road work and Rebuild by Design anti-flooding work at both ends of town, and by the river. The county repaving project of Park Avenue was supposed to be finished by the middle of the month, but they may be making some corrections.

RESIST - NORTH
Work Activities
- Micro Pile Casing Install (Garden Street/Alley from 14th to 15th – Hoboken)
- Forms and Concrete and Deep Excavation (Harborside Park – Hoboken)
RESIST - SOUTH
Work Activities
- Excavation and Fine Grading of Mud Mat, Production Pile and Sheet Pile Installation, and Mud Slab (Hoboken – NJ Transit Yard)
- Excavation (Washington Street from Observer Highway to Newark Street – Hoboken)
- Micro Pile Casing Installation, Sheet Installation, and Mud Slab (Private Property – Jersey City)
Former Union Dry Dock Site Demolition
The city of Hoboken’s contractor, Tekcon, will demolish the three structures, two stonewalls, and replace the southern fence adjacent to the Castle Point Skate Park as part of site preparation for the Sinatra Drive Redesign and Maritime Park projects.
Work Activities
- Demolition of three structures (former restroom, garage, and overhang shed), two stone walls, and a flagpole platform.
- Demolition of the existing southern fence and installation of a new 8-foot-tall fence.
Traffic Management Activities
- A portion of the Sinatra Drive sidewalk and two-way bicycle lane adjacent to the demolition activities will be closed from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- An alternate route for pedestrians and bicyclists to travel north-south along the western side of Sinatra Drive will be posted via signage.
- Two (2) Hoboken PD Officers on site managing traffic.
- The community will be advised of any temporary parking changes via No-Parking signs at least 3 days in advance.
Hudson County: Park Avenue Repaving
On July 10, the city noted:
"The Hudson County Department of Roads and Public Property will be re-paving Park Avenue from Observer Highway in Hoboken to 19th Street in Weehawken, beginning Monday, July 15. The road work will be conducted on weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. for approximately four weeks. The County project, which includes milling and paving by contractor Smith Sondy will require intermittent and roving road closures and parking restrictions. Temporary No Parking Signs will be posted. Hoboken Police officers will be positioned in the area to assist with detours, traffic control, and pedestrian safety. Driveway and garage access may be temporarily limited to certain residential properties while construction is occurring. The schedule may change due to unforeseen weather or subsurface conditions. Patch noted no parking signs on upper Park Avenue for this coming Tuesday and Wednesday. This story will be updated if more specific information is released.
