Woman Injured in Saturday Fire Dies, Report Says

A 62-year-old woman succumbed to her wounds due to the fire, according to the Jersey Journal.

A woman who was injured in a fire on Saturday afternoon in her Marine View Plaza aparment has died, the Jersey Journal reported Tuesday.

The Jersey Journal identified the victim as 62-year-old Jean Callan, a fervent supporter of the Hoboken Library.

After being rushed to the burn center at St. Barnabus, Callan succumbed to her wounds, according to the Jersey Journal.

In an email sent to members of the Hoboken Library, Callan was described as "a wonderful, caring, loving woman," according to the Jersey Journal.

The story also reported that "Callan’s two dogs also died from injuries sustained in the fire and a third dog was critically injured."

No other apartments in the building suffered any damage, even though two floors were evacuated on Saturday, City Spokesman Juan Melli said in a previous interview.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
