HOBOKEN, NJ — A new-ish Hoboken cafe that struggled to find a niche on the city's west side announced on Thursday morning that their last day will be Friday.

Company Kafe, which sold coffee, pastries, and bread since their opening in April 2023, said in a social media message Thursday morning that they hope to open again elsewhere, perhaps somewhere with better traffic.

The announcement came just five days after a cafe with ideal foot traffic, Hidden Grounds near the Hoboken train station, announced it was closing in part because of rent.

"After much consideration, we’ve decided to close our location at 526 Jefferson St. as we search for a new space with more foot traffic. We hope to serve you again soon!

"We want to express our deepest gratitude for your loyalty and support. As a small family business with deep roots in Hoboken since our families arrived from Ellis Island, this will always be our home.

"In the meantime, stop by for your favorite drink one last time and enjoy 10% off pastries. Thank you for being part of our journey. We look forward to welcoming you to our new location soon! ☕❤️

"With heartfelt thanks, the Company Kafe Team."
