2 Hazlet Residents Hospitalized, 1 Firefighter Injured In Home Fire

Two Hazlet residents and a firefighter were hospitalized in a structure fire early Friday morning, authorities said.

HOLMDEL, NJ - Two Hazlet residents and a firefighter were hospitalized in a structure fire early Friday morning, authorities said.

Firefighters responded to the Brookside Avenue blaze at around 12:30 a.m., the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement, where two residents of the home were trapped inside.

The residents were later extracted and transported to the hospital, the sheriff’s office said. One firefighter was also injured.

Mutual aid units from Hazlet, Keansburg, Keyport, Union Beach, Holmdel, Middletown, Tinton Falls and Matawan responded to the incident, alongside the Monmouth County EMS Task Force, Medical Ambulance Bus 6, the Monmouth County Fire Marshal’s Office and the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office.

The blaze is currently under investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.

“All first responders at the scene are commended for their tremendous efforts, coordination and quick and responsive actions in battling this fire and maintaining safety,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement. “Our thoughts remain with the two residents of the home and firefighter who were injured.”
