Applications Open For Holmdel Citizens Police Academy
The eight-week program will cover topics such as use of force, firearms safety, criminal investigations, first aid and more.

HOLMDEL, NJ — The Holmdel Police Department is now accepting applications for their Citizens Police Academy, which is set to run from March 6 to April 24.
The academy aims to provide community members with a background and understanding of the Holmdel Police Department’s policies and activities, as well as the structure and limits of police power.
Familiarity with these principles is key to understanding the actions and reactions of police officers performing their duties, police said.

Some topics covered in the eight-week program include the use of force, pursuit, firearms safety, patrol tactics, criminal investigations, first aid and fire safety.
The program will be held once per week on Thursday evenings from 7 p.m. to 9:15 p.m., according to officials.

Applications will be accepted until Feb. 28, and participants must be Holmdel residents who are at least 18 years old with no felony convictions or significant criminal history.
