First-Ever Camp Vienna Will Honor Late Holmdel Toddler
The week-long camp will include some of the toddler's favorite activities, including reading, crafts, songs and dance.
HOLMDEL, NJ — The Enchanted Tree House Academy, in Lincroft, is hosting a week-long camp for kids ages 2.5 to 8 years old, in support of Team Vienna 4 SUDC Awareness, which advocates for research support for Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood (SUDC).
Largely unknown by the general public and even by most in the medical community, SUDC is a term used by medical examiners when the death of a child between 1 and 18 years old is unexplained after a thorough investigation, autopsy, medical record review and death scene investigation. It is different from Sudden infant death syndrome, which only includes deaths in kids less than 1-year-old.
The organization is named after Vienna Carly Savino, from Holmdel, whose death was categorized as SUDC. The 2.5-year-old fell asleep while watching TV two years ago and never woke up. Her mom, Denise Wunderler (who is a sports medicine physician), founded the organization in 2019.

Profits will go towards Team Vienna to build Vienna’s Little Library in honor of the child. Several organizations have signed on to support the camp, for example sponsoring attendance for a child.

Last year, medical students at the Arkansas College of Osteopathic Medicine were the first class in the nation to be taught SUDC, thanks to the efforts of Wunderler.
