First Responders To Be Recognized With Painted Line In Holmdel
The Township Committee voted to paint a red, white and blue line on a township service road to honor firefighters, EMS and police.

HOLMDEL, NJ — The Township Committee has agreed to honor first responders in town by painting a red, white and blue line on the road at the fire house and first aid buildings.
The unanimous vote gave the go-ahead to an idea raised by Committeeman Rocco Impreveduto at a previous committee meeting in September.
Impreveduto made the motion at Tuesday's meeting, seconded by Mayor Gregory Buontempo.

"First responders are the backbone of the community," Buontempo said.
The red, white and blue line will be painted on a service road off Crawfords Corner Road on township property, Buontempo noted.

The issue of whether to repaint a blue line symbolic of law enforcement was tabled at a previous meeting. Impreveduto said that, in the past, some residents supported it and some did not.
He said he hoped to bring the community together, rather than dividing it, and suggested painting a red, while and blue line to represent firefighters, emergency medical responders and police - a "first responders' line," he said.
When the line would be painted was not discussed at the meeting.
