HOLMDEL, NJ —There will a fossil hunt this fall, but rainy weather with flooded streams has postponed it to Oct. 7.

Fossil Hunt Local geologist and fossil hunter Dr. Jim Brown will lead a tour back in time to the Cretaceous period, when dinosaurs roamed the Earth and Holmdel (and New Jersey) was submerged beneath a shallow inland sea.

Citizens for Informed Land Use is sponsoring the tour through the Ramanessin streambed, searching and sifting for fossilized shells and bones and for evidence of sea creatures that once lived in Holmdel. Shark teeth are abundant in the area.
