Hazlet 2022 Election: GOP Retains Seats On Township Committee

Republican candidates Robert Preston, James Cavuto and Peter Terranova all won election to the Township Committee, in unofficial results.

HAZLET, NJ — Republican candidates for Township Committee won all three seats in unofficial results.

Winning two full terms were Republicans Robert Preston Jr. and James A. Cavuto.

Preston was appointed to the committee in April to complete the term vacated by Scott Aagre, ending this year. Cavuto was running for the seat to be vacated by Deputy Mayor Michael Glackin, who is not seeking re-election after serving two terms.

They were challenged by Democratic candidates Danielle Roth and David Personette.

There was also a race for a two-year unexpired term.

Republican candidate Peter Terranova, who was appointed to the committee earlier this year to replace former Mayor Tara Clark, won election. He was challenged by Democratic candidate Lucille Lo Sapio.

Here are the vote totals for the candidates for Hazlet Township Committee:

Township Committee (Full Term – Vote for Two)

  • Robert Preston, Jr. (Republican) - 4,423
  • James A. Cavuto (Republican) - 4,459
  • Danielle Roth (Democrat) - 2,574
  • David Personette (Democrat) - 2,546

Township Committee (Two-Year Unexpired Term – Vote for One)

  • Peter Terranova (Republican) - 4,451
  • Lucille A. Lo Sapio (Democrat) - 2,550

The results become official when certified by the Monmouth County elections office after mail-in votes are counted within six days of the election.
