HAZLET, NJ — The Hazlet Township Police Department is hosting an open house for people with special needs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Oct. 16.

The point of the event is to build a positive relationship between this part of the population and the police.

"All too often our community members with special needs have their first, and possibly only, interaction with Police during stressful situations," a statement from the department reads. "This is an opportunity to bring your loved one with special needs to the police department and meet officers in a non-stressful environment."
