Holmdel Woman Arrested After Police Chase, Assault on Officers

A Holmdel resident was arrested early Sunday morning after a police chase that ended in the driveway of her home.

A Holmdel woman failed to stop for police Sunday, and began a police chase that ended in her driveway and with one police officer seeking hospital treatment for assault.

The incident began on August 17th at approximately 1:15 a.m. when Holmdel Police Cpl. Walter Weber attempted to stop a car for a motor vehicle violation on Middletown Road. The driver of the vehicle, who was later identified as Katherine Rossics, failed to stop and continued to elude the officer until she reached the driveway of her home on Gales Court in Holmdel.

Rossics was subsequently placed under arrest for DUI based on observations made by the officer at the scene. During the arrest, she attempted to kick Officer Weber, and was then charged with resisting arrest.

The Keyport Police Officer was treated and released from Bayshore Hospital. The nature of his injuries would not be disclosed at this time, according to Holmdel Police Lt. Michael Smith.

Rossics was charged with a total of six crimes: aggravated assault on a police officer, terroristic threats (against a police officer), eluding police, resisting arrest, criminal mischief, and driving under the influence.
