Masks In Hazlet School Buses Optional Until Friday

The school district announced an exception to the statewide mask mandate due to the current weather forecast.

HAZLET, NJ — Students will be able to ride the school bus without a mask on until the end of the week due to the current weather forecast, Hazlet Township Public Schools announced.

Because every school in the district has air conditioning the exception to the state-wide mask mandate is only being applied to school buses.

The district will be closed on Thursday, so it also only applies to Wednesday and Friday.

"Not every bus will run on time, not every desk will have plexiglass and not every learning environment will be ideal from the start," Riddley said. "We will figure it out together. Slowly but surely we are moving in a good direction."

Riddley also said that the central office had been out and about in the first week of school.

"The energy and excitement displayed by students, staff and faculty was genuine," he said.
