Planet Fitness Moves Into Former Fashion Bug Location

Fashion Bug is out, Planet Fitness is in. The regular people's gym is coming to Route 35 in Hazlet, opening in October. 

And if you act now, it's $1 to sign up and $10 a month after that. Pre-sale ends at the Hazlet location on Sept. 30, and although the business is currently under construction, there is a table for registration in the meantime.

A recent study by R.J. Brunelli & Co., LLC revealed small businesses closing took over the progress big-box stores had made on the vacancy rate, on the 25-mile Aberdeen to Brielle stretch on Route 35. The rate rose to 13 percent from 11.2 percent.

Fashion Bug was among the empty stores contributing to the area's vacancy rate.
