Police: Shoplifting Turns to Chaos in Holmdel Kohl's

After allegedly stuffing merchandise in his pants, police said Lee Amberths then began knocking over displays in the store.

An alleged shoplifting incident led to a bit of a mess in Kohl's, according to Holmdel Police.

Officers were called to the scene after Lee Amberths, 38, of Vineland was caught allegedly stuffing merchandise in his pants when loss prevention officers stopped him.

Amberths allegedly then began to kick over displays and "yell obscenities," according to police. 

Patrolmen Thomas Struble and Joseph Van Pelt arrived on scene to find Amberths outside, where he allegedly attempted to flee on foot. Amberths was caught by Holmdel Police and charged with shoplifting, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

Amberths was released with a summons and a pending court date.
