UPDATE: Police Identify Victim of Fatal Car Crash in Holmdel

A 50-year-old male victim was fatally struck while walking on Tuesday, on Middle Road near Maria Court, according to police officers.

The Holmdel Police Department has released the names of the driver and pedestrian involved in a fatal accident that occurred in the township earlier in the week.

The pedestrian who was fatally injured on December 9, has been named as Diego Vega, age 50, from Staten Island.

On Tuesday, the Holmdel Police Department received a 9-1-1 call that a pedestrian had been struck on Middle Road near Maria Court. Upon arrival, responding officers found Vega lying in the street, after being struck by a Chevy Cruz, driven by Annie Pincay, age 25, of Keansburg.

Vega was transported to Bayshore Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to Holmdel Police Lt. Michael Pigott.

Officers from the Holmdel Police Department, Hazlet Police Department, Holmdel First Aid, and MONOC responded to the 9-1-1 call. Holmdel Fire Company #2 and the Monmouth County Serious Collision Response Team also assisted at the scene.

The case is currently under investigation by Ptl. William Bernard, with assistance by Sgt. Robert Philhower of the Holmdel Police Department. Any witnesses are asked to contact Sgt. Philhower at 732-946-9690 ext 1731.
