Man, 58, Rescued While Overdosing On Methadone In Holmdel, N.J. Doctor's Office
A 58-year-old man was resuscitated by Holmdel police on Wednesday at a doctor's office after what is suspected to be a Methadone overdose.

A 58-year-old man has the quick actions of Holmdel Police, and the life-saving drug Naloxone, to thank for being alive today, according to police.
On Wednesday, December 3, at approximately 12:40 p.m., Holmdel Police received a 9-1-1 call from a doctor’s office at 717 North Beers Street reporting a 58-year-old man who was unresponsive from a suspected drug overdose, according to Holmdel Police Lt. Michael Pigott.
Holmdel Patrol Officers Martin and Van Pelt arrived on scene and found the man with shallow breathing and a slow pulse. Officers were advised by medical staff that the patient was possibly overdosing from Methadone. Based on the information provided and the man’s signs of a drug overdose, Ptl. Martin administered Naloxone, an overdose-reversal medication.

After receiving Naloxone, the unidentified man was moved from the chair he was sitting on and placed on the floor for oficers to begin rescue breathing. After approximately 3 to 5 minutes, the man became responsive and was able to breathe on his own, according to Lt. Pigott.
The patient was transported to Bayshore Hospital by the Holmdel First Aid Squad, and was conscious and alert upon arrival.
There were no charges filed in relation to the incident, according to Lt. Pigott.
